Since starting a Master's in Educational Technology at Boise State University, I've split my blog into two parts. Here at webnode you'll find my writings on K-12 education and reflections on my career as an educator. Over at my EDTECH blog you'll find a shift in focus on technology in learning environments, from youth to adult education, as well as projects and new curricula. Tech Integration in K-12 Schools
Lately I've spent some time further exploring resources some of my peers have used in their classrooms. I've been fascinated by the different approaches teachers and entire schools take to introduce, adopt, and master integrating technology in their learning spaces, and it's clear there is no one "correct" approach. M.E.T. Program Begins
Starting Monday, August 26, I'll begin graduate coursework in Educational Technology at Boise State University. I've decided to combine the 33 credit Master's program with an graduate certificate in Online Instruction. Adopt-A-Classroom: Success!
My Adopt-A-Classroom project met its project goal in less than one week, and over the course of the semester, earned well beyond 250% percent of the original goal! The project is to build a Spanish-Language, Young-Adult Fiction library project for my classroom. The collection provides books for my Spanish for Heritage Speakers classroom to be used in everything from literature circles to grammar exercises. The students loved the books and got a real joy from being the first to pour over the pages...click here to read more
Going to Georgia
What an adventure this summer has been! As a last-minute hire, I was selected to join Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School in Athens, Georgia as their new full-time Spanish teacher. Summer School
All summer long we tackled more material than I've ever previously covered. From The Crucible to A Raisin in the Sun, my two classes (I taught two periods of English A) took on the entire spectrum of American literature in theme and skipped along the literary timeline from Cabeza de Vaca to Joyce Carol Oats.
